A Novel by Mary Kay Andrews,
The Newcomer
Overview
When Letty’s sister is murdered, she will do anything to protect her three year old niece. Letty is pretty sure it was her sisters ex who killed her, and needs to keep her niece away from him. Letty follows what clues were left behind by her sister. She ends up at a small motel in Florida. In hopes that the dangerous ex wont find her and her niece, she tries to start fresh and make sense of her new reality.

This was one of my fastest reads! The Newcomer truly has it all. Throughout the whole book, you are hoping that Letty’s past does not catch up to her. Letty has no money and she has to come up with a game plan for her and her niece. Good thing she stumbled upon a motel (one of the clues her sister left for her). The owner of the motel was very gracious, too bad Letty got off on the wrong foot with the owners son…who happens to be a cop. Don’t be fooled, there is plenty of romance to go around. Dare I say, almost a bit of an enemies-to-lovers trope. Not totally enemies to loves, they don’t exactly despise each other, but there is enough disagreement between the two. There is the whole shock factor towards the end of the book when Lettys past starts to be come her nightmare of a reality…AGAIN. This is still one of my favorite books to this day. I can reread this book and never get tired of it!
Let me know what you guys think of it! 🙂
